Nothing exposes your playing like slowing down.

When you play fast, mistakes hide in momentum. When you play slow, everything is naked — timing, tone, touch.

For a long time, I avoided slow playing. It felt uncomfortable. Vulnerable. Almost boring. But once I committed to it, my guitar started teaching me things I’d been missing.

I heard uneven dynamics.

I felt rushed transitions.

I noticed how often I was forcing notes instead of letting them ring.

Slow playing taught me control, but more importantly, it taught me patience.

There’s a confidence that comes from letting notes breathe. From trusting space. From allowing silence to be part of the music instead of something to escape.

Ironically, slowing down didn’t make me less expressive — it made me more musical.

Speed impresses.

Slowness connects.

And connection is the whole point.
